Schematic illustration indicating the proposed molecular model of RBX1 in regulating NCOA4-mediated ferritinophagy and ferroptosis of human NPSCs. RBX1 directly binds to and ubiquitinates NCOA4, leading to a decrease in NCOA4 expression. This alleviates NCOA4-mediated ferritinophagy, decreases degradation of ferritin, and lowers intracellular iron levels, finally preventing ROS and lipid peroxidation, and inhibiting ferroptosis of human NPSCs.
