  1. Cer: ceramides; SM: sphingomyelins; LPC: lysophosphatidylcholines; PC: phosphatidylcholine. The calculation of the area under the curve (AUC) in receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis is used to evaluate the discriminatory ability of markers. Logistic regression models were applied to assess the relationship between lipid molecules and the presence of diabetic retinopathy. Total cholesterol (CHOL), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-c) and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-c) were added to multivariate logistic regression to calculate the adjusted* P values and odds ratios (ORs).
